Here, buttons unlock new adventures – and a poncho becomes‌ ‌a‌ ‌lifelong‌ ‌memory.‌

Where It All Started

The year was 2016, Tokyo was the place. While visiting her hometown after a long time abroad, Nanae was inspired by traditional Japanese kimonos to make a poncho for her new baby. After searching for the right fabrics, sewing and perfecting the design, a brown poncho with a checkered cotton lining was ready.

It was chic, comfy, and timeless. Both Nanae and her son fell in love with it.

The family moved to many countries, but Nanae’s idea of creating one-of-a-kind clothes for kids remained. In 2017, they settled in Treviso, Italy, where she found fantastic fabrics and met Lilli, who motivated her to pursue her idea and started together.

The combination felt right to Nanae, who made a decision – to create unisex clothes that would pay homage to both Japanese and Italian fashion culture. And she would do it her way, aligned with her vision. That meant being inspired by the freedom of movement kids have, and avoiding trend-lead designs that limit self-expression.

In 2019, the concept of a new brand was born.

Fabrics and Forms for Freedom

Hello Lupo started with the iconic poncho, and then built from there. Over the last two years, Nanae has created a selection of thoughtful garments and outerwear designed for kids’ real needs.

Playing is a serious business. That’s why Nanae strives for absolute simplicity when it comes to seams or stitches. Every piece is designed to move with your kids, and be easy to put on and take off.

The inner layers of the garments are mostly made from natural Italian fabrics. Linen, wool, and cotton are skin-loving and durable, ideal for creating timeless designs that could be handed down from one generation to another.
